Walk-In Phlebotomy Service
Walk-in Phlebotomy Changes Due to COVID-19
At present we will only be requesting urgent and necessary blood tests. The Whittington blood test room and the following community phlebotomy clinics will remain open. The available community clinics may change at short notice.
5th Floor Outpatients Block
Monday to Friday, 09:00-16:00 (excluding bank holidays).
Please note this is no longer a walk in service. An appointment must be made via the surgery.
As a temporary measure the Whiittington Hospital will accept Photo ID (and if possible an NHS number) without a paper form. Please ensure you bring this with you to save a wasted journey.
Finsbury Health Centre
Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 08:30-12:00, and Tuesday and Thursday, 08:30-17:30.
Islington Central Medical Centre
28 Laycock Street
Monday and Friday, 08:30-13:00 and 14:00-16:30.
Clinics operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Patients must bring their blood test form. They take a numbered ticket on arrival; the last ticket will be issued 30 minutes before the end of the session. Results can be obtained from the patient’s GP surgery.
Please note that the clinics listed below are walk-in services , just turn up between the indicated times and report to reception. If you have been asked to provide “fasting bloods”, you must not have consumed any food or drink other than water within the last 8 hours.
The clinican will contact you if they need to discuss your results. However, please call reception between 15:00-16:30 two weeks after your blood tests to confirm all the results have been received and actioned. You may be asked to make a telephone appointment if you wish to discuss results. You will not be contacted if your results are normal and/or no action is required.
